Kill Policitician with Online Financial Accounts

We are all concerned with lower voting patterns in all kinds of elections by the Urban Voting population. Reasons have been debated and lamented for long enough.

One of the possible solutions is to enable voting through Online Accounts.

Case:
1. Private and PSU banking/ Insurance/ Housing finance organizations spend enough due diligence to “identify” and “address-proof” their clients before online Ids to bank accounts, Housing loans or Insurance policies are granted. There is complex yet reliable apparatus setup by these players to do this task, which election commission has never been able to do through manual mechanism of door-to-door census of voter list generation
2. There is little fake identity generation by Individuals when an individual is trusting his/her housing property or savings or Insurance through these instruments. Though there is duplication in all of these instrumentsOnline banking/housing finance/ Insurance transactions are deepening and will surely cover large middle-class, upper middle class and HNI urban population in near future
3. Online banking/housing finance/ Insurance transactions are deepening and will surely cover large middle-class, upper middle class and HNI urban population in near future.

Mechanism
1. Co-operation should be enlisted from the private/ PSU players to share this data with Election Commission. Of course private/ PSU players cannot be expected to invest into it.
2. When a person logs into an online account, there could be an integration with http://search.eci.gov.in/ (this is an application on EC website to find out name of a voter in the voter’s list !) and account holder can be informed about his Voter List status. If account holder is not listed in the voter list as per name, DoB and address, measures could be suggested to get the name included in the voter list.
3. As the first benefit, account holder can be informed about the nearest voting booth as per the account details.
4. During the Voting days, if the vote is not cast, the account should be frozen (debatable). Since “not to vote” itself is mark of democratic freedom, one of the choices for voting online can be “Abstain”
5. Online account may have several online accounts, if he/ she votes from one account other accounts can be unfrozen and second attempt to vote will find status as already voted.
